Rejuvenating and restful sleep each night is the key necessity in a healthy life. Creating a healthy bedroom space is imperative for a lovely night of rest. Our bedroom is currently under renovation and I have been dreaming of a dreamy space, a space that is amazingly beautiful and will partner with my husband and I bodies in its restoration process.
A space where we get to create a luxurious organic, non-toxic environment that will help us fall into a deep heavenly sleep.. gracefully putting our bodies through every sleep cycle, releasing the God gift of melatonin. I am so in awe of how AMAZING He has handcrafted our bodies.
Our bodies have everything it needs to restore themselves, we just have to do our part in helping them do what it was created to do…through living a Healthy Lifestyle.
For as long as I can remember, It has always been difficult to fall asleep.
Fighting the sleep intruder “insomnia ” has been my greatest bedtime battle.
As I began to make radical changes in my lifestyle, making better food choices, moving my body, buying cleaner textiles and products for my home, and incorporating new bedtime habits that have made my nightly custom experience grandeur and rejuvenating.
Since our bedroom is currently under renovation, I had to create a temporary bedroom space and incorporate some new healthy sleep habits that have radically changed the way I prepare for bed.
The amount of sleep we get and the quality of it is a central component in keeping us fit and healthy.
Sleep impacts the brain. When one sleeps, the brain resets itself, the glymphatic system removes toxic waste byproducts which may have accumulated throughout the day. The fundamental purpose of sleep rejuvenates and detoxes the body and acts like a garbage disposal for the brain. Our glymphatic system only works when our bodies are experiencing the quality sleep it needs.
Sleep can seem like a luxury left to be enjoyed only on weekends but in reality, it’s a luxury we have the pleasure to indulge ourselves in every night.
Healthy habits have revolutionized my sleep experience. Beating Insomnia has reminded me of the power that’s within. I have the power to change the direction of my life.. no more thinking ” I was born this way” but taking action to change and give my body the beauty of quality sleep it needs.
Here are 12 bedtime habits I have incorporated into my nightly custom…
12 tips for how you can create a healthy bedroom that will revolutionize your sleep:
1. Turn your cell phone off before you go to bed. The blue light is harmful to your eyes. It hinders the production of melatonin, the hormone that controls your circadian rhythm making it even more difficult to fall asleep and awake the next day.
2. Meditating on the word and any positive words or quotes that speak to your soul has numerous health benefits for your lifestyle and quality sleep. Studies show that meditation sends signals to the sympathetic nervous system’s “fight or flight” response, commanding it to relax.
3. Sleeping on your side will promote quality sleep..Studies now reveal that sleeping on your side plays a crucial role in our mental well-being and sleep.
4. Wake up at the same time every day will actually help you to sleep better at night. If you wake up at the same time every day, you can reinforce the circadian rhythm and be prompted to go to sleep at the same time every night.
5. Don’t sleep in during the weekend.. sleeping late on Saturday and Sunday will create a bigger problem over time. It can increase your risk of developing obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. Ultimately, it’s best to vary your wake-up time by no more than an hour on the weekends.
6. Limit naps. Short naps generally don’t affect nighttime sleep quality for most people. But if you experience insomnia, napping tends to worsen these problems.
7. Limit activities in bed. Watching a movie, getting some last-minute work done, or playing on our cell phones before going to sleep can have a negative impact on your sleep. Using the bedroom for activities can make sleeping difficult and train your brain to associate those activities with your bedroom environment. The brain should associate your bedroom with rest, not activities.
8. Eating dinner 3 hours before going to bed will allow your stomach to properly digest and focus on preparing for sleep.
9. Make your sleeping environment not just comfortable but a luxurious experience. Our mattresses and bedding play an important role in our quality of sleep. Conventional bedding is packed with harmful chemicals that pollute our room air quality which affects our ability to get quality sleep because our bodies are working hard during a time it should be slowing down. Organic bedding and mattress are not only healthy, but they will also give your body that rejuvenating luxurious experience your body needs, along with dreamy sleep.
10. Relax before going to bed. There are endless benefits of de-stressing. Unwinding ensures a great night’s rest! From lowering the chance of heart attacks to preventing depression, relaxing before bed has many benefits.
11. Diffuse Essential Oil during bedtime will stimulate your sense of smell and can actually help you relax as you get ready to sleep each night. I love lavender, the aroma soothes me taking my body into a glorious bliss of relaxation, prepare all your senses for heavenly rejuvenating rest.
12. Luxury 100% Mulberry Silk Eye Mask, that is comfortable, breathable, and soothing to your senses. Wearing an eye silk mask will block out light, which promotes the production of melatonin, and blood circulation and relieves insomnia to help you enter deep rejuvenating sleep. Let’s sleep well at night and enjoy beautiful dreams.
